Yelagiri situated in the Vellore District and on Vaniyambadi – Tirupattur Road above the sea level of 1110.6 m. Familar for Orchards, rose gardens and surrounded with green valleys.
Yelagiri during historical days belonged to zamindari family but during 1950 taken over by Indian Government. During British period the tribal's welfare activities took the forefront.
Places of Interest :
Punganoor Artificial Lake-cum-Park : This is an artificial lake upto the depth of 25 feet adjacent to Park.
Jalagamparai Waterfalls: Jalagamparai Falls 14 km from Tirupattur. Swirling Attaru river covers Yelagiri Hills and with its rejuvenating force become waterfall. Barely 5kms walk from Yelagiri downward. The direct route to falls from Yelagiri is closed and is uncertain.
Swami Malai Hills : Trekking is advantage here. Trekking may be started via small village called Mangalam. Parking the vehicles at the temple next to water tank and proceed by foot from Mangalam. This is a starting point. It would be worthwhile after climbing the top and it is called as View Point.
Telescope Observatory : It is added attraction in the Yelagiri Hills. But this facility is no more.
